What to Check Before You Buy a Used Silo

• Capacity: Size the silo to your daily cement use and how often tankers deliver.
• Portable or stationary: Portable silos travel with mobile plants. Stationary silos need a stand or foundation.
• Single or split: A split silo holds two materials, like cement and fly ash, on one footprint.
• Dust collection: Is the silo top dust collector included, and does it work?
• Aeration and discharge: Check the aeration pads, butterfly valve, and slide gate.
• Condition: Look for rust, dents, and damage to the cone, ladder, and railings.
